St. Luke’s General Hospital is a key HSE acute hospital providing essential healthcare services across the south-east of Ireland. To support future expansion and improve electrical resilience, the hospital commissioned a new Energy Centre to incorporate modern MV and LV infrastructure.
Appointed as electrical specialist and Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS), Cross Electrical Services successfully delivered a complex hospital electrical project within a fully operational clinical setting.
The new Energy Centre was designed to strengthen the hospital’s power network while integrating seamlessly with the existing estate. The works included:
- MV Infrastructure Upgrade
- Supply and Installation of MV Ring Main Switches
- Supply and Installation of 1250kVA Generator
- Construction of New MV/LV Building
- Construction of Generator Compound
- Supply and Installation of New Main Distribution Board & Sub-Distribution Board
- Integration of new Energy Centre into Existing Live Hospital Energy Infrastructure
Delivery of this live hospital electrical project required phased changeovers, careful outage planning and continuous coordination with the HSE Technical Department to protect essential clinical services.
The completed Energy Centre provides the capacity required to support the hospital’s continued development, while maintaining uninterrupted patient services throughout construction.
By combining technical delivery with comprehensive safety management, stakeholder coordination and disciplined project planning, Cross Electrical Services completed an infrastructure upgrade that strengthens the resilience of one of the region’s most important healthcare facilities.
